Dance Gala 2021
October 13-16 // 8:00 p.m.
Strauss Hall at Hancher
Dance Gala celebrates 40 years of captivating audiences with groundbreaking choreography created by University of Iowa Department of Dance faculty and prominent guest artists from around the world. This year, we are privileged to stage The Moor’s Pavane by José Limón, a 20th century modern dance masterwork. In addition, the dance faculty will premiere four exciting works, expressions of our resilience, commitment to, and enthusiasm for this art form. Dance Gala 2021 promises to engage audiences of all ages and we invite you to take a leap and join us in this celebration.
A warm welcome to you all!
Dance Gala is celebrating 40 years this season and we couldn’t have done without the patronage of our audiences throughout the Midwest, the artistry and devotion of our students, the talent and imagination of our diverse faculty and guest choreographers, and the immense technical and artistic support of our production unit.
Tonight, we celebrate our diverse community of choreographers, designers, composers, musicians, and students of dance with performances of four works by Department of Dance faculty and The Moor’s Pavane by José Limón, a 20th century modern dance masterwork. The year, donor funds have supported student scholarships, as well as faculty and student travel that supports research and high visibility performance opportunities.
Funds also support the myriad worthy research and creative projects that emerge during the year, many of which would simply not be possible without support from our donors.
