Biography

Todd Rhoades is a performer, educator, and choreographer. He has his BFA in Dance from Point Park University and his MFA in Dance (Choreography) from the University of Iowa. Todd danced professionally with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Pittsburgh Symphony/Pittsburgh Pops, Ballet Austin, Luna Negra Dance Theatre, The Seldoms, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Opera Theatre, the MUNY in St. Louis, the Goodman Theatre, the Paramount Theatre (Aurora, IL), the Marriott Theatre, and the Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook.

Choreographic credits seen onstage with The University of Michigan (Theater/Opera/Dance), The Theater School of DePaul University, the University of Iowa, Inaside Chicago Dance, Nomi Dance Theater, Dance in the Parks, Paramount Theatre, Lifeline Theater, Finger Lakes Opera/New York State Ballet, New Orleans Opera/New Orleans Ballet, and Des Moines Metro Opera.

Todd has taught at Ballet Austin Academy, Inaside Jazz Dance, Inaside Jazz Dance Guest Teacher for Company Class, Thodos Dance Chicago Guest Teacher for Company Class, Chicago Ballet Arts, Chicago School of the Arts, the Theater School at DePaul University, the Youth Ballet at the University of Iowa, and the University of Iowa Department of Dance as well as many festivals, schools and academies. Todd has completed multiple comprehensive Yoga and Pilates Teacher Training programs. In 2017, Todd became the private Pilates and Yoga teacher for Cirque du Soliel’s cast of Luzia, where he worked alongside the company’s physical therapy program.

Todd has a passion for mentorship and education in performance, helping others by sharing his knowledge and experience. He regularly gives workshops on audition preparedness, resumé writing and networking in the field of dance. Todd served as the Development Director of Para.Mar Dance Theatre in Chicago. He has been an active union member (AEA, SDC, AGMA, COGS) his entire career, serving on the Board of Governors of the American Guild of Musical Artists, on contract negotiations committees, and as a Dancers’ Representative.
