Sidney Cowles is a BFA Dance Senior with the University of Iowa Dance Department. Sidney was born and raised in Ames, Iowa along with her two sisters and brother and trained at primarily at Performance Dance Centre. She has had the pleasure working with, learning from, and gaining mentors with the faculty here in this department. She has been fortunate to perform in many works here at the university along with some festivals here in Iowa. Sidney has participated in Dance Gala in 2020, 2021, and 2022, Faculty/Graduate Concert, Undergraduate Concert, and Iowa Dance Festival. During her time her at Iowa she has been fortunate to work with Armando Duarte, Eloy Barragán, Christopher-Rasheem McMillan, Todd Rhoades, along with many undergraduate and graduate students. Throughout the course of making this project, Sidney has had the opportunity be mentored by Armando Duarte, who has supported her in this creative process. Since last spring, Sidney had formulated the concept for the work that is being performed tonight; "On The Mend". She is thankful to have the opportunity to perform along side her cast and debut her first work on stage at the University of Iowa in the BFA show.
