Biography

Maggie O'Gorman is a BFA Dance Senior with the University of Iowa Dance Department. Maggie is from Orland Park, Illinois and trained at American Dance Center prior to coming to college. Maggie has been fortunate through her time at Iowa to work in many performances and with many choreographers. Maggie has participated in Dance Gala 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. She has also performed in Faculty/Graduate Concert 2023, Iowa Dance Festival, and was a part of UIDC in 2022. She also presented her own work, "Lost... Are We?" in the Undergraduate Concert last Spring. Maggie has had the pleasure of working with Eloy Barragán, Armando Duarte, Christopher Rasheem McMillan, Stephanie Miracle, Alex Bush, Kristin Marrs, Kieron Dwayne Sargeant, Thomas Defrantz, Todd Rhoades, and Jaruam Miguez Xavier. In the work she is presenting tonight, "Intrusion," Maggie has had the opportunity to work with her mentor, Melinda Myers throughout this creative process. Aside from her training at Iowa, Maggie has trained at Joffrey Ballet Chicago, Visceral Dance Chicago, Elements Dance Chicago, Waterstreet Dance Milwaukee, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Maggie is blessed to be given the opportunity to be presenting her choreography and performing in it for everyone. She is thankful for her time with the UIowa dance department and all the memories and friendships that have come out of it. Maggie would like to thank her parents for their constant support and for her friends and family who are coming to see the shows this weekend.
