Lex Leto

Multidisciplinary Musician and Artist
Biography

Lex Leto (they/them) is a multidisciplinary musician and artist with a lifelong goal to “create great art with great people.” After earning a Bachelor’s degree in music education from The University of Georgia-Athens, Lex moved to Iowa City to pursue further study on flute with Professor Nicole Esposito, not expecting to find an incredibly vibrant community of friends and makers. While working towards a Master’s degree in flute performance, Lex continued to develop their skills as a musician, DIY maker, digital media artist, and songwriter, while participating in the local experimental scene. Finding themself at an epicenter of weird art and joyful creation, Lex continues to create as much as they can - not confining themself to any one project, style, or medium. Their work ranges from DIY printmaking to theatrical performance and collaboration. Lex has performed at Film Scene’s Refocus Film Festival, Mission Creek Festival, and Public Space One’s Open Air Media Festival, with their band Lex Leto x The Christine Burke Ensemble, as well as as a flutist with the Sioux City and Knox-Galesburg Symphony Orchestras.

Lex Leto can be found looking at clouds in College Green Park, watching a movie at Film Scene, jamming with their friends, writing music with Jarrett Purdy, performing with The Christine Burke Ensemble, shredding a bass guitar with Penny Peach, or on Instagram, Bandcamp, and Spotify.
