Joshua Culbreath
Through his mother’s influence, Josh started dancing at 5. By age 7, Josh’s journey in Bboying began after watching movies like BREAKIN’ and Beat Street. In high school, Josh started practicing with Philly’s local Breaking scene to further his Breaking skill and knowledge. Since 2009, Josh has been performing with Rennie Harris Puremovement Street Dance Theater Company and is the company's Assistant Director. Josh has also worked with Raphael Xavier, who has recently been exploring the movement of Breaking on an aging body. Today, Josh is the Co-founder and an active Retro Flow Crew member, representing the Breaking scenes of Philadelphia and New Jersey. He was also named one of the “Top 25 Artists to Watch” by Dance Magazine in 2018. Josh is also a Co-Founder of Snack Break Movement Arts, a performance duo specializing in street-dance-inspired performance works made for the concert stage. Josh has showcased his work in places such as York College, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, the Yard on Martha's Vineyard, the Come Together Festival hosted by Koresh Dance, and The Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, The Palace of Fine Arts San Francisco.
