Jacqueline Fuentes (She/Her), originally from Chicago, Illinois, is a senior at the University of Iowa, double majoring in Dance and Environmental Policy. She began her dance training at Picture Us Different Dance Studio. During her time at Iowa she had the opportunity to perform in several events, such as the Dance Gala, the University of Iowa’s Dance Company Home Concert, American College Dance Association and various thesis performances. Currently, Jackie serves as the Prompt for the Planet intern at the University of Iowa’s Office of Sustainability and the Environment, where she fosters community engagement in environmental activism through art. Her future research will explore the distinctions between environmental awareness, appreciation, and activism in dance, emphasizing how the arts can inspire change and raise awareness in the broader community.
