A Note From The Collective, enters the M.F.A. Event as a reflection of the brilliance shared, and knowledge accumulated, inside the coursework for DANC:2025:0001 (Intermediate Hip Hop Dance). The selection of songs, orchestration of groups, and final performance of choreography was collaboratively organized by all the participants. The work animates forms situated on the “Jazz Dance Continuum,” and consequently exercises the cultural influence of Afro-Diasporic and Latinx communities for a proscenium audience. The creators of this work pointedly deliver their performance of this contemporary piece, which features stylized influences from breaking, house, and hip-hop social dance, and flourishes with unique stamps from each individual.
