Thank you to my advisor, the glorious Kristin Marrs, for your encouragement and advice as I have gone through this vulnerable process, and thank you for never shying away from the darkness I’ve shared with you. You are truly extraordinary. Thank you to Chris McMillan, my independent study advisor of five whole semesters! You’ve pushed me to the limits of my creativity, given me marvelous feedback, insight, and the best pep talks in the world. Thank you to all of the dance department faculty—you all made my college experience one to remember, and you’ve helped me to grow into a better dancer and person. Thank you to my beautiful and amazing friends for believing in me, pushing me to heal, and reminding me that I am loved and that I deserve to be here. You’ve helped me more than you know, and I am beyond lucky to have you. And thank you to my fellow BFAs! You have made my college experience one to be remembered, and you inspire me every day with your dedication and talent. I’m so glad we’ve had these four years together, and I am so excited to see all the amazing things you go on to accomplish.

Allie Recht is graduating in May 2021 with a BFA in Dance. Her work is focused on the impacts of trauma and the way it affects the body, as well as the ways in which the body can be used to heal in a more integrated way. She hopes to eventually earn her master's in social work to help people in their personal healing processes using this integration of the body as a base.
